Math 9F - Linear Inequalities Goal: I can model and solve linear inequalities verbally, algebraically, and graphically (Ch 9).
- Review Assignment (Due Wednesday)
- p. 368 #1-6, 8, 9, 12, 14, 18, 20
- p. 332 #1-6, 9, 10, 11, 13 (see Key Below)
- Other Review Options:
- Math Link - Amusement Park Manager p. 367
- Challenge - "Not For Profit" Fundraising Challenge p. 372
- The Inequalities Game p. 373 (with cards from Steve)
Note: We will review Linear Equations tomorrow, and have a test Wednesday on the whole Patterns and Relations Unit (Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities).
Math 9B - Ratio and Rate: I understand ratios, rates, and proportions, and can apply my understanding to applications such scale, mapping, speed, and unit cost (Ch 6 and 7)
- Scale Diagram Assignment (Due at the end of the block on Tuesday):
- You will be handing in three things:
- one page of initial sketches of the object with measurements
- one page of calculations - clearly labelled and with work shown
- one page of graph paper with your 3 scale drawings on it and the scale of each drawing clearly labeled (do not write any of the original measurements on this drawing)
- Notes:
- You will be preparing 3 scale drawings of an object in the classroom: a side view, a front view, and top view.
- Measurements can been in feet/ inches or in meters/ centimeters
- Your drawings will all go on one side of a piece of grid paper.
- Fold the paper in quarters so one of the views you draw takes up half the page and the other two views take up one quarter each. You will need to use a different scale for the large drawing as you will for the smaller two drawings.
- Process:
- Know - pick an object you know you can draw and sign up on the board to no one else draws the same object.
- Wonder - What measurements do you need in order to draw side, front, and top views of the object?
- How - Once you've made the appropriate measurements, how will you use proportions to make sure you are drawing the object to scale? How can you best use the grid paper?
- Learn - Can you use what you've learned about proportion to help create the scale drawings? (Here's a video to help you out)
- Action - create your scale drawings
- Questions - once you are finished write down some new question you have, or some things you wonder if you could have done better.
